It’s not so easy for the Blazers to hit the reset button

Things are not going well in Portland.

The Blazers fired longtime General Manager Neil Olshey on Friday after an internal investigation confirmed the previous reporting that he was, in fact, a POS. The team has lost 4 of 5, including embarrassing back-to-back blowout losses at home to the Spurs and Celtics by a combined 56 points (admittedly without Damian Lillard).

Despite the addition of Larry Nance Jr. and the supposed desire to improve what has been a reputable poor defense, the Blazers currently rank dead last at that end of the floor. They surrendered 145 points to a Boston team that was without two starters in Jaylen Brown and Al Horford. At 11–13, they’re just one game ahead of Sacramento for the final play-in spot.

It’s bad with little to no way of getting better, which of course has set off the same chatter that’s surrounded this franchise for years now.

At face value, it probably is time for the Blazers to hit the reset button on the Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum era. Whatever window they had to possibly sneak into the Finals has come to within an inch of its existence, probably less.
